Christ-centered worship

While campus worship may vary in musical style and take place throughout various locations on campus, all worship is centered around our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Students at CUAA can engage and participate with fellow students in various worship opportunities throughout the week to dig deeper and grow more. Whether the idea of worshipping with others is new to you or if you have been active in Christian congregations for many years, your faith journey matters at Concordia and we offer many different ways for you to glorify God and grow in your faith.

Daily chapel

Daily Chapel is the one time throughout the day that the entire Concordia community can gather in a Christ-centered environment for a 20 minute worship service. Every Monday through Friday that classes are in session, there is a pause in the day from all classes and meetings so that everyone can come together. A variety of music instruments are used, depending on the day. Most weeks emphasize a themed series, allowing Daily Chapel to have a sense of continuity and connection. Daily Chapel takes place at 10:30 a.m. in The Chapel of the Holy Trinity.

Monday matins/morning prayer

This brief, biblically based service on Monday morning (7:45-8:15) provides our community the opportunity to begin the week together in quiet reflection on God’s Word. Using either the historic office of Matins or the more recent Morning Prayer, the community gathers to chant psalms, sing hymns, hear the Word, and pray.

Tuesday night worship

TNW is a weekly highlight for many students. Each week on (yes, you guessed it) Tuesday nights at 10:15 pm students join together for an hour of contemporary worship led by student musicians and vocalists. TNW generally takes place in the Kreft Recital Hall.

Evening prayer

This brief, biblically based service on Wednesday Evening (10:00-10:25pm) provides our community the opportunity to come together at the end of the day in quiet reflection on God’s Word and praise toward him. Generally using the Evening Prayer Service, the community gathers to sing, pray, hear the Word, and contemplate the one who is the light of the world in the middle of darkness.

Office of none

Following the ancient tradition of God's people to sing and chant the psalms, students, faculty and staff gather together at 3:05 on Fridays, recalling the moment of our Lord's death for us. Those with no chanting experience can quickly learn to join in, but it is also prayerful to simply meditate on the words being sung.

Communion services

Worship with other students using beloved liturgies such as Evening Prayer, Compline, Vespers, or a Divine Service. Communion services take place monthly on Wednesdays in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity.

Special services

Throughout the year, there are multiple special worship services that are announced in advance so students can actively participate. These services take place for significant events in the church year or in response to recent events taking place in the community or the world around us.
